There are way too many fatherless children in the world. I was one of them but thankfully I came to know the best father a girl could ever hope to have. God the Father loves you unconditionally and will NEVER let you down. Human fathers are bound to disappoint their children but the one true father never will.

If you are blessed to have a father that loves you, honor him every day. Today is the day that reminds us to honor our fathers, but if you are fortunate enough to have a caring and nurturing father, do your best to thank him and revere him always.

These statistics about fatherless are startling, as well as disturbing: 63% of youth suicides are from fatherless homes. 90% of all homeless and runaway children are from fatherless homes – 32 times the average. 85% of all children who show behavior disorders come from fatherless homes – 20 times the average. 80% of rapists with anger problems come from fatherless homes –14 times the average. 71% of all high school dropouts come from fatherless homes – 9 times the average.

On the other side of the coin there is the good news. Children with Fathers who are involved are 40% less likely to repeat a grade in school. Children with Fathers who are involved are 70% less likely to drop out of school. Children with Fathers who are involved are more likely to get A’s in school. Children with Fathers who are involved are more likely to enjoy school and engage in extracurricular activities.

We need to pray for all of the fatherless as well as the fathers. It’s not an easy job. To all of you moms out there raising your children alone as I did, I salute you. We can do our best but nothing can take the place of a father. Do yourself and your children a favor and introduce them to God the Father. With Him in the center of their lives the odds against them will be greatly diminished.

I really wish I hadn’t walked away from God but there are no do-overs. He’s blessed me in more ways than I can begin to say since my return to Him. I will continue to believe in His promises for my family. Isaiah 59:21 is a favorite. “As for me, this is my promise to them,” says the Lord: “My Holy Spirit shall not leave them, and they shall want the good and hate the wrong-they and their children and their children’s children forever.”

Be blessed and enjoy your Fathers Day everyone.
