When I was in my twenties I’d come home from a night on the town, or just a long day at work, brush my teeth and roll into bed. Thankfully when I was about twenty eight a good friend chastised me severely and told me that if I didn’t want my face to look like shoe leather when I was forty, I’d better start taking better care of it. She admonished me to wash my face every night and put on a good night cream. I followed her advice and I must say I’ve done pretty well by it. I’ll see someone that I haven’t seen for years and hear, “Wow, you haven’t changed a bit.” I know this is a common statement for schmoozers. However, without being egotistical, I think I’ve held up pretty well.
Now that I am in my fifties my night ritual is much more time consuming. Before I apply the aforementioned night cream, I have to apply the age spot remover, the under eye cream and the wrinkle remover. After they have had sufficient time to dry I slap on the night cream. Then I apply my essential oil that is supposed to help with my menopausal hot flashes.
Speaking of menopause, I’ve added four vitamins to my daily arsenal. Along with Estroven, I take, Black Cohosh, Flax oil, and vitamin E. All have been touted to aid in the symptoms of menopause. Is any of this helping you ask? Heck no! But I can’t stop taking the behemoth stack of daily vitamins because I’m afraid that they may be keeping my symptoms from getting worse. God forbid the night sweats, hot flashes and memory loss get any more unbearable.
So to all of you young girls out there that think it is a pain to wash your face every night; enjoy it, I say. Relish every puny little moment it takes to protect your youth. One day you will be in my shoes. I didn’t appreciate the simplicity of life then, but I sure wish I had it that easy now.
